A glorious weekend of perfect wind and sunshine saw 9 International Snipes competing in the tidal Thames at Erith Yacht Club for the first dedicated Open meeting here for 10 years. There was some keen competition with 2 races each day. Sailors from Manchester, Maldon and Medway areas attended to enjoy the social scene and the racing. Erith Yacht Club entered 3 Snipes; the first Erith boat to win over 4 races was crewed by the winning junior. Local Erith honey was distributed to the winners.
Winners Alan Williams and Richard Marshall (Budworth SC, Manchester)
2nd Sue Roberts and Mike Kerr (Blue Circle SC, Nr Medway, Kent)
3rd Guy Welch and Alison Brannon (Maldon YC, Essex).
1st placed EYC Boat Richard Banner and Peter Reeves (Erith Yacht Club).

Bexley Libraries would like to read your recollections of that swinging decade, whether you were at school, a teenager buying your first Beatles’ or Stones’ single, or working and raising a family.
Your memories don’t have to be about Bexley, but we are particularly interested if you lived or worked in the borough at this time. Did you shop in Hides in Bexleyheath, or work in a local factory such as Vickers in Crayford? Did you attend a local school, or go to see chart topping pop groups at the Black Prince?
Whatever your memories and wherever you lived, Bexley Libraries would love to hear your stories, with a view to publishing them on our website and in a book.
You can write your account online at www.bexley.gov.uk/service/lib-sixties.html
