The newly opened RE/MAX Select estate agency, in Bexleyheath, feels it is backing a revolution in the property industry.
Director of RE/MAX Select, Harj Thind says the RE/MAX concept is ideally suited to the property industry, because it recognizes that it is the individuals involved who are of paramount importance, and that critically the best interests of both consumer and provider are linked. The system was inspired by the North American service culture in which RE/MAX was created, where clients and standards are at their most demanding.
“RE/MAX was born in a more regulated environment, where, additionally, service and delivery are essential. It operates under an efficient and effective system where all of RE/MAX’s agents are self-employed and run their own business, meaning they are even more motivated and equipped to deliver the best service they can, ensuring both good care of their vendors and maximum time for their buyers.
“It is also a co-operative system, RE/MAX provides agents with the complete office set-up, with state-of-the-art facilities and tools. These are all reasons why RE/MAX has, uniquely for a global entity and remarkably for a property business, enjoyed 32 years of month on month growth.
“Our agents have all the benefits of self employment, including up to 80 per cent share of commissions and flexible working arrangements of choice, but are insulated from the many risks and fears of going independent, which would be the natural progression for good, hard working agents. You are in business for yourself but never by yourself.”
This is why RE/MAX has achieved phenomenal growth, with now over 114,000 agents. It is a global network and a flexible system that works for customers, willing always to work with other agents to that end. There is a genuine and fluid internal referral system in place for anybody wanting to buy, sell, let or rent in any of over 62 countries that RE/MAX operates in, or in the neighbouring town.
Harj and his partners have always lived in the Bexley borough, they know the area well and are closely involved with the local people, they have a strong business background with a long interest in property. They were familiar with the RE/MAX concept and its reputation for service and innovation, and saw it as an answer to what Harj calls an anomaly in the industry. The traditional dual mismatch is overcome as customers receive value for money for the large commissions they part with, and deserving agents take home a fairer share of the income their own efforts create for the office they work in.
Harj recognises that buying or selling a home is probably the most expensive and important transaction a person will enter into, and he believes a customer focused organization, such as RE/MAX, will guide buyers and sellers through the experience with the appropriate level of care and diligence.
