BRENDA INTERVIEW

Fresh from the West End stage, The X Factor contestant, Brenda Edwards will be performing at this year’s Trust Thamesmead’s Summer Festival, but she has this interview to conduct first… Hi Brenda! You’ve just finished a stint in West End musical, Chicago, how did it go? It was brilliant! I absolutely loved it. I sung two songs in total, a solo and a duet, neither song was like the other and they brought out different aspects of my voice. Could you relate to your character, Matron Mama Morton? I’m no where near as stern as her. I liked the character though and the whole thing taught me a lot and expanded my acting. Is there another West End show you’d love to star in? I haven’t thought about it – Chicago is a very prestigious show. Of all the shows to go into, that is the big one! Did you watch Celebrity X Factor? I taped it whilst I was performing and watched it when I got home from work. I thought Lucy was great, she really gave her heart and soul and she deserved to win. What did you think about Sharon’s comments to Rebecca Loos? Sharon always says what she feels. She was a lovely mentor to me - she would always tell me if I did something wrong and I respected her for that. I got to meet Ozzy and the family, they all made me feel very welcome and supported. All the judges are lovely, I’m sure it would have been the same with Louis and Simon. What else are you up to at the moment? I’m doing a lot of live work, every week I’ve been doing something. I’m very lucky in that a lot of people want to see me perform and are coming down to support me, which is great. Talking of which…Trust Thamesmead’s Summer Festival! I know, I can’t wait! I’m going to play a mixture of stuff – some songs I performed on The X Factor and hopefully some new stuff too. I can’t wait to see the reaction. Does that mean you have an album in the pipeline? I do, I’ve been really busy in the recording studio and I hope to release an album at the end of this year. Chico’s performing on the 15th July, do you get to see the other X Factor finalists much? I stay in touch with most of the finalists - quite a few of them saw me in Chicago, which was great, even the Conway Sisters, who flew over from Ireland!
