ERITH BOXER REPRESENTS ENGLAND
Lewis Pettitt, from Nemesis Gym Erith, won his 2nd consecutive National Junior ABA Title after boxing at Crystal Palace on Saturday, 5th May beating Sean McBride of Redcar over three rounds by a points verdict of 12-3

Luke Gibb, again from Nemesis Gym was desperatly unlucky losing 12-11 to current national champion Micheal Hatfield of Hartlepool over 4 rounds.

After winning, Lewis was picked to represent Young England Cadets in a international match against Young Ireland Cadets which took place over the weekend of 24th to 26th May in Dublin’s National Boxing Stadium. Lewis won a Gold Medal beating Ireland’s Alan Phelan who won the All Ireland Championships this year. The Final score finished at 16-8 over 3 rounds.

The national coaches’ report stated “After a fairly close first round Lewis got into his stride and never looked in difficulty against a plucky fighter, he came out a clear winner”

A spokes person for Nemesis Gym said “all at the club are very proud of both boxers achievements”

Sportswoman of the Year 2007
Sarah-Louise Casey, from Erith was chosen as the winner of the London spports award because of the dedication she has shown to her sport and her amazing record of achievement for such a young girl. This sportswoman is a credit to her club and not only gives a lot of time to her training, but also helps young swimmers on a one to one basis. Last year she was voted as female club captain by her fellow swimmers. Additionally during 2006 she also set 4 new world records in her various disciplines as well as competing in the Special Olympics European Youth Games and coming 1st in the 100m butterfly in the Learning Disability National Championships. This sportswoman also commits herself to coaching other disabled people in the sport so that they too can enjoy the benefits of participating.


FREE SUMMER FESTIVAL
Jamelia will be headlining this year’s Trust Thamesmead Summer Festival which co-insides with Thamesmead’s 40th birthday. Keeping in theme, acts from the last four decades, including Showaddywaddy, The Real Thing, Sybil, Antony Costa, The Honeyz and Trust Thamesmead’s T Factor winners Audio Hawk will all be performing on stage.
