The great great-grandchildren of the real von Trapp family are making their debut in the UK this year and will be performing a very special evening of music at The Orchard Theatre on Thursday 17th May.
The Sound of Music captured the hearts of millions when the film debuted in 1965 and forty years later, the picture is still captivating our imaginations, not least with BBC1 reality show How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? and the brand new stage show of The Sound of Music now selling out in London’s West End.
Now, for the first time, the real von Trapp Children are making their UK debut in the UK with a 10 date tour in May 2007. Meet Sofia (18), Melanie (16), Amanda (15), and Justin (12), the great great-grandchildren of Captain von Trapp, father of the famous singing family whose story captivated the world in the musical The Sound of Music.
Already a sensation in the U.S., the children have become household names with appearances on Good Morning America, Fox News, and Today (CBS). In the press there have been major features in LIFE, New York Times, People and many more.
Performing a variety of folk and classical songs from various European and American traditions, as well as timeless pieces from The Sound of Music, this is a must see event for all fans of The Sound Of Music and musicals. Amongst the numerous highlights are Do Re Mi, The Lonely Goatherd and My Favorite Things, all from The Sound Of Music, as well as a wide repertoire spanning from West Side Story to Oliver!, along with classics from Rodgers and Hammerstein.
They will begin a national TV and radio campaign shortly which will include Blue Peter, BBC Radio 4, GMTV, Channel 5 and BBC Radio Countrywide.

Bexley Finds its Voice
If you are aged 12 to 24-years-old with a keen love of music, arts or film, now is the time to find your voice!
The Arts Council of England has awarded Bexley Council, in partnership with Point Blank, more than £70,000 funding to run a year long programme of music activity and art courses across Bexley.
Called ‘The Voice’, the programme kicks off on Thursday 12 April at Rose Bruford College, Sidcup, with the first of two free taster sessions, offering a chance to try out a range of courses on offer, including DJ’ing, singing and song writing, digital video production, music promotion, music and radio production, graffiti art and events management. A second drop-in taster session will be on Saturday 30 June at Danson Festival, Danson Park, Bexley.
Cabinet Member for Leisure, Arts and Tourism, Cllr Peter Catterall says: “The Voice offers 11 free courses which have been tailored to give young people a chance to develop their self-confidence and creativity, as well as gaining valuable vocational skills from Point Blank tutors. It is a wonderful opportunity for the borough.”
