Charged for the murder of a 15 year old
Myles Maddy, an eighteen year old student from Corraline Walk, Abbey Wood, SE2 appeared at Greenwich Magistrates Court on Monday, 25th February 2008 charged with the murder of Sunday Essiet.
A 21 year old man was also arrested in connection with the murder but has been bailed until a date later in March.
On Tuesday, 19th February 2008 police and the ambulance service were called to Invermore Place, SE18 at approximately 16:15 where they found a youth suffering from stab wounds. Sunday Essiet, aged 15 years old of Coopers Road, SE1, was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem gave the cause of death as a stab wound.
Police believe Sunday was with friends in a fenced-off football pitch in the middle of a grass area on the Glyndon Estate, when they were approached by another group of black males. An argument followed and Sunday, plus several friends, ran away. Sunday was chased and caught on the edge of the green by Invermore Place and assaulted.

Police Appeal
Bexley Police are appealing for witnesses to and information on a serious assault. The incident occurred on Saturday, 23rd February 2008. Police were called to Pier Road close to the Fish Roundabout, Erith at approximately 23:20 hours.
After buying food at a local kebab shop, five youths aged between 17 and 18 years (3 male and 2 female) went to a nearby bus stop in Pier Road. Shortly after, a green people carrier (a Ford Galaxy or Toyota possibly with a W registration) pulled up next to the youths. The vehicle was occupied by two passengers and the driver. The rear passenger was female.
The front seat passenger got out of the car brandishing a 12-inch Samurai sword and approached one of the youths. Fearing for their safety the rest of the group ran off.
The suspect confronted the youth and then assaulted him by pushing him into a wall. The victim, aged 17 years of age from Welling, was conveyed to hospital believed to be suffering from a ruptured spleen. He underwent life saving surgery to repair the damage and remains in hospital but in a stable condition.
The suspect is described as a white male, aged about 40 years of age, bald, with tattoos on both arms. At the time of the incident he was wearing a black sleeveless top and blue jeans.
