Police are investigating the death of a 67 year old man who was found dead on Sunday 26 February 2006.
Police were called by London Ambulance Service, at approximately 3.50pm, to Erith Leisure Centre, Avenue Road, to reports that a man had collapsed in an outside tennis court. Ernest Norton, who lived in Erith with his wife and son, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The death, (which is being treated as suspicious, after the post mortem examination was held at Queen Mary’s Hospital on Monday 27th February).The cause of death was found to be heart failure, aggravated by a previous medical condition and an injury to the head.
Local officers arrested 13 youths near the scene on Sunday 26th February, after they received reports of youths in the area were seen throwing stones. All thirteen have been bailed, pending further enquiries, to return to South London police stations on dates in March and April.
The investigation is being conducted by the MPS Specialist Crimes Directorate under DI Clive Heys.
