£10,000 Reward for Murder information

Officers investigating the murder of a 27 year old man in Belvedere, South London, on Wednesday 21 September, have announced that a reward of up to £10,000 is available for any information leading to the arrest and prosecution of his murderer.

Falwinder Singh Badesha, was found at Holmhurst Road, Belvedere, at 19.50 suffering stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene and a post mortem later showed he died of stab wounds.

Police are appealing for any information about a man they want to speak to in connection with the murder. He is Sukhdip Singh Chhina, an Indian national, aged 23, who lived at the same address.

The incident is being investigated by the MPS Specialist Crimes Directorate, based at Lewisham. DI Bob Webb said: “There were four young men, visiting from the Amritsar area of India, living at the address. They worked together locally at a factory. It seems a fight broke out that evening between the victim and Chhina about keeping the house tidy.

“Chhina had left the address before police arrived and we are very keen to trace him.” DI Webb said that all ports and airports have been alerted in case Chhina tries to leave the UK. It is possible that he returned to south east London where he has friends. He also has contacts in Gravesend in Kent, Southall in Middlesex, the West Midlands and Ilford in Essex.

Chhina is 5’9” tall, with short dark hair. When he left the house on the day of the murder, 21 September, he had a cut to his forehead. He was wearing brown shoes, dark trousers and a coloured, checked shirt. He may also have been carrying a plastic bag. DI Webb said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have information about Mr Chhina. Maybe you recognise the description or have heard some information that could lead us to him? “We appeal also to Mr Chhina to give himself up for the sake of his friend, and attend any police station near to where he is staying.”

The number to ring with any information is 020 8721 4805, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous. A 44-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman were arrested on Thursday 13 October, for perverting the course of justice in connection with the enquiry. They have been bailed to return on 24 November.
