On Friday 5th August, Hollywood Way held it’s second clean sweep/fun day on the estate. About 50 children and some parents joined the landlords, Woodlands Housing Co-op, Orbit, CDS, Beaver, Hexagon and Fujaltu. The day was kicked off with several officials from the Landlords, who jointly signed an agreement along with Bexley Council and the Metropolitan Police with regards to anti social behaviour. 18 Months ago, this estate was plagued with the anti social behaviour from some of the youths, who live on the estate. The Landlords eventually got together to tackle the problem, and they have successfully eradicated the behaviour. The agreement was part of the promise to ensure that the behaviour does not return, and if it does, the necessary authorities will deal with the problem immediately.
The Police and landlords started the day off, by helping the children and tenants to pick up the litter on the estate. The children collected several bags of rubbish, and where possible larger items were collected by the vans that were provided. Once this was completed, the fun began.
Several competitions were organised, a bouncy castle was provided, along with a bucking bronco, cream cracker eating competition, lucky dip. There were prizes donated by McDonalds, vouchers from some of the landlords, and the Phone Shop in Welling donated a pay as you go mobile phone for the person who stayed on the bucking bronco the longest. The event was well attended, and a great deal of fun was had by all. The free ice creams that were provided, went down a storm. And Morrisons did a fantastic donation towards the food and drink that was laid on for the representatives from the landlords who needed substance to help them get through the day.

Police are appealing for any information concerning a large mound of waste left outside flats in Binsey Walk, at the junction with Belvedere Road, Thamesmead.
It is believed the rubbish was left there some time between 3.30 - 4.00 pm on 22 August. The area is used as a car park. It is near to unoccupied flats that are due to be decommissioned.
The incident is being investigated by PC Adam Turner of Thamesmead Safer Neighbourhoods team.
He said:
“Incidents such as this affect the quality of life for residents and the clear-up costs run into millions of pounds a year.
“It’s probable that a lorry was used to dump the waste. We are appealing for anyone who was in the area and may have seen a lorry containing this waste. It includes old kitchen equipment, furniture and old electric fires.
“Material such as this is not only unsightly it is dangerous when there are children from occupied flats playing in the area.
“We are appealing for any information regarding the depositing of this waste. Did you see a lorry in the area containing this sort of waste? Did you see anyone leaving the area with an empty lorry?”
Anyone with any information should contact PC Turner on 07879 406326, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous.
