Mildres Wilkins was born in Grimsby. Lincolnshire in 1935 and spent her early years there, later moving to Erith, Kent, Where she now lives with her husband.
She dabbled in writing from an early age, but her early ambition to become a reporter with the Grimsby Evening Telegraph was not achieved and she pursued a career in Local Government.
Her first Novel “Soul Mates” was written in 2003 as a birthday present for her husband, who could not think of anything he wanted. “Ill write you a story” she said and so “Soul Mates” was created. Her husband was astounded.
The following year Mildres completed her second novel “A Tapestry of life”, and her third novel “It’s almost tomorrow” is currently with the publishers and should be out later this year.
She has now started work on her fourth novel “Thoughts of Love”. and considers that completing 3 novels in just over two years a very satisfying achievement.
She writes a well assemble tales of love and marriages, failure and successes, which makes pleasant light reading. Villains come to sticky ends, heroes triumph, and heroines get to live happily ever after, having struggled bravely against the cruelty of fate and the conniving misdeeds of others.
Mildress Wilkins has a light touch, and the reader is never dragged into excessive detail. Her descriptions of physical intimacy are skilfully drawn, enhancing the romance of the tale and the pace of the narrative, Without detracting from the decent and noble motive of her characters. Her prose is not taxing, and the reader is not required to wrestle with complex abstractions.
